GENERAL PHYSICAL PREPAREDNESS.
CrossFit is a general physical preparedness (GPP) program. CrossFit develops fitness that will have you ready for anything: inside and outside the gym.
By constantly varying the training sessions, CrossFit makes it possible to have wide ranging fitness.
THE OLD WAY.
It makes prefect sense that you adapt and improve at what you do. Always running 5km? You improve at 5km runs. Always doing biceps curls on the same day as pull-downs? You improve at doing biceps curls and pull-downs on the same day. By looking at your training program and seeing the patterns, we can predict what physical weaknesses you will have.
THE NEW WAY.
CrossFit takes that predictability away. The workouts of the day (WODs) are constantly varied. Some are long, some are short, some require heavy lifting, some light lifting and others no lifting at all. One week you might see 5 new movements, and the next week everything is familiar, but in a different structure. By providing your body with the constant challenge of new movements, new combinations and new skills, you avoid boredom and poor results.
